Core/Pro prices ($25/$100) are really just a dollar-denominated credit deposit for Agent usage — Replit's 2025 shift to 'effort-based' pricing means the same request can cost more or less depending on model choice and 'extended thinking,' so the old flat $0.25-per-checkpoint mental model no longer holds.

Since June 2025, Agent usage is billed 'effort-based' rather than a flat $0.25/checkpoint: simple edits still typically checkpoint under $0.25, but complex, multi-file, or 'high power model'/'extended thinking' requests can checkpoint well above $0.25. Some Agent capabilities call paid third-party APIs billed through at the provider's public rate, deducted from Replit credits. Core/Pro plan fees are essentially a monthly credit deposit ($25 or $100) that both platform access and Agent usage draw down from — not a separate subscription plus a separate usage bill.

Where the real Replit cost hides
The sticker is the smallest part of the story. For Replit, these are the line items that quietly inflate the bill:
- The old flat $0.25/checkpoint mental model is gone — enabling 'high power model' or 'extended thinking' raises the cost of the identical request
- Plan price and usage credits are the same pool: the $25 or $100 you pay is your entire monthly Agent budget, not a subscription fee on top of usage

- Parallel Agent limits (2 on Core, 10 on Pro) mean concurrent runs multiply credit burn simultaneously rather than queuing

Leaving 'high power model' or 'extended thinking' toggled on for routine tasks, or running multiple parallel Agents on Pro, silently reprices ordinary checkpoints upward — two workspaces doing identical work can see very different credit burn depending on which effort settings were left enabled.
