As of June 1, 2026, GitHub retired "premium requests" and replaced them with GitHub AI Credits, billed by token consumption (input, output, cached) at each model’s API rate. 1 AI credit = $0.01. Monthly fees include a credit allowance; standard code completions remain free on all paid tiers. Overages are governed by credit balance and admin budget controls.
